The Challenge

Our German metal rail-producing customer was experiencing inaccurate performance from its measuring system for the factory roll stand. Their existing system had been in service for many years and the load cells were installed in an area that was difficult to access. It appeared that replacement would require major structural alterations, resulting in a long downtime. Our customer sought an accurate solution that would be simpler to install, and easier to maintain and access in the future.

Our Solution

As part of a project at the company’s Research and Development department, An RFS-4 rolling force measuring system was installed as a test application. The objective was to compare the measurements obtained from the RFS-4 system to the measurements obtained from the existing system while leaving the existing system in place. Due to the excellent and accurate measuring results, the RFS-4 system was adopted during the trial period to replace the existing rolling force measuring system.
